'Financing Your Recording Project' with Rachel Barnhard
As an independent artist or musician, the responsibility of paying for recording, packaging and marketing your CDs are yours alone. However, times change, and there are now multiple ways to fund your projects so that you're not fronting all of the money. In this workshop, Rachel Barnhard will explore some of the traditional and some of the new online methods you can use to fund your project.
Rachel Barnhard is CEO at BigData Marketing, a data-driven technology company focused on the music industry that she co-founded in 2009. She is responsible for assisting clients in creating comprehensive digital strategy and marketing plans and managing them through execution with the help of a team of talented content creators.
Since last year's launch, BigData Marketing has provided e-commerce and online marketing solutions to entertainment properties including events: The Shine All Night Tour with Martina McBride & Trace Adkins, Next Big Nashville, artists: Wynton Marsalis (Orchard), Carrie Newcomer (Rounder), Chase Coy (Universal Republic), and online platforms: MyWerx, and MusikPitch.
Rachel received her MBA from Vanderbilt University and Bachelor's from Indiana University. She has been involved in marketing and promotions in music for 6 years, beginning at Dualtone Music Group where she organized grassroots marketing campaigns, which led to a position at Aristo Music Associates where she worked as a music video promoter for a variety of artists ranging from the Dixie Chicks to Old Crow Medicine Show.
